Zion National Park is in southwest Utah. Zion Canyon sits next to the town of Springdale, which Visit Utah lists as the town for Zion National Park. Bryce is the town for Bryce Canyon National Park.
Route options
The park's directions describe two ways to reach Bryce Canyon.
From the south, Bryce Canyon is reached on UT-9 east through Zion National Park to US-89.
From the north, Bryce Canyon is reached by I-15, UT-20, US-89, UT-12 and UT-63. Before you set out, look at the park's website for the latest road updates.
What to expect at Bryce Canyon once you arrive
Bryce Canyon has one main 18-mile road that runs north-south through the park. The Bryce Canyon visitor center sits 1 mile inside the park boundary, at an elevation of 7,894 feet.
The Bryce Amphitheater is along the first 3 miles of the main road. The four most popular overlooks are Bryce Point, Inspiration Point, Sunset Point, and Sunrise Point. The full length of the main road is known as the Southern Scenic Drive and leads to Rainbow Point.
Getting to the start of the drive
Many visitors to Zion National Park come from Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, or nearby parks. If you are flying in, there are four airports to compare.
Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is in Las Vegas, Nevada, 170 miles from Zion. Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is in Salt Lake City, Utah, 300 miles from Zion. St. George Regional Airport (SGU) is in St. George, Utah, 49 miles from Zion. Cedar City Regional Airport (CDC) is in Cedar City, Utah, 60 miles from Zion.
Public transportation to Bryce Canyon National Park is not available.
